About Me (Old school)
I completed my 4 years apprenticeship in 1980 in Carpentry & Joinery at Marleston.
I experienced a time when carpenters were exposed to a broad scope of works, which included traditional roof framing some by hand made built on top of the walls of solid double brick homes.
The construction of homes required hardwood timber floor frame, tongue & groove pine floor, timber plugs for skirting, architrave and door jambs and the construction of rail and sheet kitchens with Laminex glued to the benchtop. Occasionally we built stairs, pergolas and decks. The introduction of wall framing, plasterboard and roof trusses followed in the years to come.
In the following four decades my apprentices and I sustained an honest business in providing a carpentry service to Adelaide builders, constructing new homes and improvements throughout the suburbs of Adelaide.
In this latter part of my career, I decided to change my clients from builders to home owners.
Targeting home owners, I saw their need for the restoration of their homes.
6 years on and over 260 clients I have come full circle, reacquainting myself in the skills of joinery and traditional woodwork. With this, I have developed a process to restore aged homes.
